About This Program
Welcome - May our beloved Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament
of the Altar bless you and your family! This is a privately run website
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Program, located at St Monica
Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
All are welcome at our Chapel - both Catholics and Non-Catholics alike!
A once a month 24 hour Eucharistic Adoration Progran started at St.
Monica's around 1990. Each Month, at 9AM on the Friday before each First Saturday,
the Most Blessed Sacrament was exposed in the Church for adoration ending
the First Saturday 9AM Mass. This lasted for 12 years until 2002 when
a Eucharistic Adoration Chapel was built in the old Music Room (N.W. part of
the Church building next to the handicap bathroom). After a
successful recruiting campaign, to have all hours covered, Perpetual
Eucharistic Adoration started at St. Monicas on October 13, 2002 after an
initiation Mass with our Bishop residing. Since that opening we have
accumalated over 165,000 Holy Hours said in the Chapel as of January 2014.
What Is Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration?
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is a program where the Most Blessed
Sacrament, our beloved Lord Jesus Christ, is placed in a
and adored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year long. Except for
stopping for part of Chrismas Eve, part of Christmas Day and the Easter Triduum, adoration
of the Eucharist at St. Monica's Chapel is continuous. During
regularly scheduled Masses at St. Monica Church no adorers are scheduled for
adoration in the Chapel but the Chapel is open for adorers. During bad weather
the Chapel stays open but the normal schedule of adoration is suspended
until it is safe to travel again.
must be in attendance before our beloved Lord at all times
when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the Monstrance, however, 2 people
are the Church norm for adoration of this type. At St. Monica's our goal is
always 3 people signed up for each hour so that if one person is sick, or
goes on vacation, they do not have to look for a substitute - they just have
to call up their 2 fellow adorers and inform them of their absence. To
accomplish this three people are recruited for each hour of the whole week
thru various means. Each person volunteers to adore our beloved Lord at a
specific hour once a week, each week, for a certain number of months (or
years) that they determine. Their weekly commitment to this lasts as long
or as short as they want. It is hoped, however, that the commitment will be
for a sufficient length of time to help keep this program going. Many
adorers choose to make a lengthy commitment (many months and years) because
of their love for our Lord. These longer commitments help this program more
but even a short commitment of 3 months or so can help. The biggest help
from these commitments is, of course, to the adorers themselves since they are before
our beloved Lord Jesus Christ for one hour each week receiving many graces
and answers to prayer.
About This Website
website is configured so that it displays well on most mobile devices as
well as all home computers. My name is Tom Walt, designer of this website.
Anne Cooper is the Head Coordinator of this program.
This website is an attempt to show the importance of Eucharistic Adoration
in ones life and thus to get more people to sign up for a particular hour of
adoration. This program and the world are in great need of more adorers to
sacrifice their time in this manner. To this end it is the goal of this
Website to disseminate information to the existing volunteers for better
organization and to hopefully get some future volunteers for this Program to
help keep this Chapel open 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a week as it is now.
However, even if you cannot signup for a Holy Hour please be sure to come
and visit our beloved Lord Jesus at anytime.
As you can see on the
other pages of this website much has been written by the Church heirarchy
and our Saints about the vital importance of regular Eucharistic Adoration
in ones life. Over the years I have gathered over 600 Eucharistic
Adoration quotes by these Saints from various sources. Hopefully this
will convince more people of the great need of adoration in their lives and
sign-up to cover a specific Holy Hour with our beloved Lord.
