Blessed Pope Pius IX (1846-1878)

imagePope Pius IX on October 19th 1866 became one of 5 Popes to specifically promote the idea of a Holy Hour of reparation before the Blessed Sacrament, as revealed to St. Margaret Mary by Jesus in 1674.  This Holy Hour was to be done at a specific time - between the hours of 11PM and Midnight each Thursday.  Jesus wanted these Holy Hours to appease the Divine wrath because of the sins of the world, to ask for Mercy for sinners and to console Him in His Agony during this hour.  Pope Pius XII, Pope Pius XI, Pope Gregory XVI, and Pope Pius VIII also spoke specifically in promotion of a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration in this manner.  Other Popes, especially later in the 20th century and on into the 21st century, would become strong supporters of a specific hour of Eucharistic Adoration outside of Mass during any hour of the week.
